Chasing dawn with Seven’s Sunrise reporter Tamra Bow

“The media, if it's used properly, can drive change and it can keep companies and people honest.” -Tamra Bow, Channel Seven Sunrise

Channel Seven Sunrise Reporter Tamra Bow talks about what’s involved in bringing breakfast news to your loungerooms so early in the morning.

Channel Seven Sunrise Reporter Tamra Bow talks about what’s involved in bringing breakfast news to your loungerooms so early in the morning.

It’s PR Darlings Podcast has launched with compassionate journalist and Channel Seven Sunrise reporter Tamra Bow as our first official guest.

Tamra’s the one who gets up before dawn in order to bring the day’s events to the comfort of our loungerooms while we enjoy our morning coffee.

A seasoned professional and queen of the live-cross, Tamra also worked as a TV news reporter for both Channel Seven and Channel Nine.

From live reports on bushfires and crime, to feel-good wildlife rescues and success stories, Tamra has covered the full spectrum of news.

Despite reporting on some of the more confronting sides of life, she hasn’t become cynical. Tamra was on the ground during the 2016 Dreamworld tragedy, so one of the topics we discussed with her centred around crisis management and what media needs to do their job and when and why they need it.

“I don't want you to make something up. If you don't know it just say to me, ‘I'm going to go and find that for you’ and make sure to do before the deadline.” -Tamra Bow, Channel Seven Sunrise

So often we talk about crisis communications from the company perspective, but rarely do we put ourselves in the shoes of the reporter.

A compassionate journalist, Tamra points out the many actions that were only taken after media pressure.

She also shares insights into the types of stories that make it onto Channel Seven’s Sunrise and how she manages to produce news so early in the morning!

If you do tune in and subscribe to our first series, we hope you enjoy the amazing conversations we’ve had with some of the industry’s best and brightest.

We can honestly say, we’ve loved spending this time with our guests. We’re such passionate advocates of media and feel it’s been a real honour to capture their stories. Even though media is often seen, their stories are largely unheard.

All feedback and support (please like, review, share) are welcome as we’ll be diving straight into producing our second series this week with another stellar guest list lined up!

And for the word nerds out there, today’s industry jargon term is “stakeout”, but you’ll have to listen to the show to find out what it means.
